Privacy Policy

Effective and last updated: August 12, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Coyotiv GmbH (“Coyotiv”, “we”, “us” or “our”) handles personal data in connection with the Overhead Camera iPhone application, this website, documentation and support.

Overhead is designed to collect as little personal data as possible. It does not require an account, include advertising or tracking, or transmit live camera video to Coyotiv.

1. Data controller

Coyotiv GmbH
c/o Factory Works GmbH
Rheinsberger Straße 76/77

Managing director: Armağan Amcalar
Commercial register: Amtsgericht Charlottenburg, HRB 217066 B
VAT ID: DE815873870
Email: contact@coyotiv.com

2. Privacy at a glance

Overhead:

  • does not require registration, a Coyotiv account or a user profile;
  • does not contain advertising, tracking or third-party analytics SDKs;
  • does not collect advertising identifiers, location, contacts, calendars or browsing history;
  • does not record, store or transmit live camera frames;
  • processes selected LUTs and monitoring overlays transiently on the iPhone;
  • stores setups and preferences locally and, when enabled, in the user’s private iCloud account;
  • uses transient device-motion samples only for the optional bubble level;
  • uses Apple for App Store purchase processing; and
  • does not sell, rent or use personal data for targeted advertising.

3. Camera access and live frames

Overhead requests Camera access to display and control the iPhone’s supported rear cameras. Live camera frames remain on the iPhone. The application does not create a photo or video recording, upload camera frames, or operate a network streaming service.

When a color look or monitoring assist is selected, frames are processed transiently on the device using Apple graphics frameworks. Histogram and waveform values are calculated for the current display and are not stored. Removing Camera permission prevents the core camera view from working.

If the user mirrors, streams or records the iPhone display using macOS, Apple services or third-party software, that activity is performed by the chosen software and governed by its provider’s privacy practices.

4. Saved Shots, framing and app settings

Overhead stores camera configurations chosen by the user, including named Shots, A/B/C framing bookmarks, selected lens and frame rate, focus and exposure modes, manual values, white-balance settings, guides, monitoring preferences, selected look, look intensity, torch choices, lighting-region preference and control-lock state.

This information is stored locally so the application can restore the setup. It describes camera configuration, not the camera image.

5. Imported LUT files

When a user imports a compatible 3D .cube LUT from Files, Overhead stores the file, display name, validation information and a locally rendered thumbnail. Imported LUTs are processed only to provide the selected color look and manage the user’s library.

6. iCloud sync

When iCloud is available, saved Shots, framing bookmarks, imported LUT files and application preferences sync through the private Apple iCloud account signed into the iPhone. Compact settings use Apple’s iCloud key-value store; imported files use the application’s private iCloud Drive container.

Coyotiv does not operate an Overhead user database and cannot access the user’s private iCloud container. Live camera frames, scope images and motion samples are never synced. Users control iCloud through Apple account and device settings and can delete saved items inside Overhead.

7. Device motion

If the optional bubble level is enabled, Overhead reads live device-motion samples to display alignment. Samples are used only while required for the level and are not stored or transmitted.

8. App Store purchases and Apple diagnostics

Apple processes the purchase through the App Store. Coyotiv does not receive complete payment-card numbers, bank details, billing addresses or Apple ID credentials. Apple provides the purchase or entitlement status needed to make the paid application available. Processing necessary to provide a purchased application is based on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR; legal accounting or consumer obligations may rely on Article 6(1)(c) GDPR.

Overhead contains no third-party crash-reporting SDK. Apple may collect operating-system diagnostics and may share limited diagnostics with developers when the user enables Apple’s “Share with App Developers” setting. Apple controls that collection under its own privacy practices.

9. Support communications

Overhead does not collect an email address inside the app. If a user voluntarily contacts us, we may process the sender’s email address, message, attachments, voluntarily supplied technical details and our response. We use them to answer the request, provide support, resolve problems and keep necessary communication records.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR when communication concerns purchase or use of Overhead, or Article 6(1)(f) GDPR based on our legitimate interest in answering inquiries and supporting the product. Users should not send sensitive or private camera images unless necessary and safe to share.

10. This website

No cookies, analytics or forms

This is a static product website. It uses local fonts, images, HTML, CSS and JavaScript. We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, tracking pixels, behavioural profiling, advertising networks, embedded analytics or contact forms. The site therefore does not display a cookie-consent banner.

Email links open the user’s chosen email application. We receive personal data only if the user chooses to send a message.

Technical request data

The hosting and content-delivery provider may automatically process standard technical information necessary to deliver and secure the website, including IP address, request date and time, requested resource, browser and operating-system information, HTTP request details and security signals. We do not add analytics to this information or use it to create profiles or track users across websites.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interests are secure delivery, availability, abuse prevention and technical diagnosis.

11. Providers and recipients

We use a limited set of providers:

  • Apple provides App Store distribution and payment processing, iCloud and iCloud Drive, and optional operating-system diagnostic sharing.
  • Website infrastructure providers deliver and protect this static website and may process technical request and security data.
  • Business email providers process messages when a user emails us. Access is limited to people who need it for support or business administration.

We may disclose information when legally required by a binding request from a competent authority. We do not sell personal data or provide it to data brokers, advertising networks or marketing platforms.

12. International transfers

Coyotiv is established in Germany. Apple and infrastructure providers may process limited information outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where required, providers may rely on an adequacy decision, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses or another recognised safeguard.

13. Retention and deletion

Coyotiv does not retain live camera frames, motion samples or a server copy of the user’s Overhead library. Local and iCloud data remain until deleted by the user through Overhead, iCloud, device settings or application removal, subject to Apple’s system behavior.

Support correspondence is retained only as reasonably necessary to answer the request, resolve related issues, meet recordkeeping obligations or establish, exercise or defend legal claims. We do not maintain an analytics profile based on website visits. Technical request logs are retained according to the hosting configuration and the period necessary to deliver and secure the site.

14. Data security

Our approach is to minimise data: process live video locally, operate no Overhead user-account database, use the user’s private iCloud account, avoid unnecessary SDKs and restrict access to support messages. No system can be guaranteed completely secure; users should protect their iPhone, Apple account and email account.

15. GDPR rights

Where the GDPR applies, users may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection, and the right to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. Users may lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority, particularly in the EU member state where they live, work or believe an infringement occurred. The competent authority for Coyotiv is generally the data-protection authority responsible for Berlin.

To exercise a right, email contact@coyotiv.com. Because Overhead has no account and Coyotiv holds little personal data, we may not possess information that identifies a particular user. Data existing only on a device or in the user’s iCloud account must generally be managed by the user through Overhead, iOS, iCloud or the Apple account.

16. Children

Overhead does not require an account and does not knowingly collect personal data from children through the application. If a parent or guardian believes a child sent personal data in a support message, they may contact us to request deletion.

17. Automated decisions

We do not use personal data for profiling or automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

18. Changes and contact

We may update this policy when Overhead, our providers, legal requirements or data practices change. The current version will be published here with an updated date. Material changes will receive additional notice where appropriate.
